The Road to the Breeders’ Cup World Championships resumes this weekend in a big way, with seven domestic Challenge Series “Win and You’re In” races on Saturday, Sept. 30. Five Challenge Series events headline Santa Anita Park’s opening weekend of its fall meet, and two are at Belmont Park.
The Awesome Again Stakes, a qualifier for the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Santa Anita Park, leads the list. The others are the Zenyatta Stakes at Santa Anita (a qualifying prep for the Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff); Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational Stakes at Belmont Park (Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf); Vosburgh Invitational Stakes at Belmont (TwinSpires Breeders’ Cup Sprint); FrontRunner Stakes at Santa Anita (Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile); Chandelier Stakes at Santa Anita (14 Hands Winery Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies); and Rodeo Drive Stakes at Santa Anita (Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf).
The weekend’s East Coast television coverage is headlined by Belmont Park Live, presented by Claiborne Farm. The program will air from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern on MSG+, FOX Sports Prime Ticket, FOX Sports San Diego, and FOX Sports Ohio. Post times for the two Breeders’ Cup preps will be announced Sept. 27.

A highlight of the week’s radio and online streaming coverage is the upcoming “The Winner’s Circle” podcast, presented by America’s Best Racing in conjunction with SB Nation Radio. Hosted by Bram Weinstein, the Sept. 30 podcast features scheduled guest Monti Carlo. The program airs at 10 a.m. ET on the SB Nation Radio network of stations, at www.sbnationlive.com, and on the SB Nation Radio app.
