The undefeated Songbird appears to be headed into the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) on Nov. 4 at Santa Anita as the one to beat, currently at odds of -125 in early wagering at Mybookie.ag.
As of Sunday night Mybookie still had Beholder as the second choice at +280 despite getting beaten twice now by Stellar Wind, who is the third choice at +450.
Songbird will go into the Distaff perfect in 11 career starts, a 5 ¾ length winner in the Cotillion (G1) last out at Parx Racing in her final tune up. She has won her 11 career starts by a combined 60 ½ lengths. She earned a 99 Beyer Speed Figure for her Cotillion win.
Stellar Wind won Saturday’s Zenyatta (G1) at Santa Anita, beating Beholder by a neck and earning a 110 Beyer, her career best She beat Beholder in her previous start in the Clement L. Hirsch (G1) by a half-length, earning a 102 Beyer Speed Figure.

Beholder, who won the 2012 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) and the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Distaff will come into this year’s race having lost three races in a row.
It really does not look as if she has lost a step in her six-year-old season, just Stellar Wind is just very good right now.
She has won 13 of her 15 starts over the Santa Anita main track, but Stellar Wind has now won four of her five trips over the surface.
The big three are going to garner most of the attention leading up to the race, but do not forget about Cavorting, currently the fourth choice in early Distaff betting at Mybookie at +750.
She has won three races in a row, taking the Ruffian (G1), Ogden Phipps (G1) and the Personal Ensign (G1).
She ran fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) last fall at Keeneland, beaten 3 ¾ lengths, but showed last out at Saratoga she can handle two turns just fine.
Forever Unbridled is at +1300 in early Distaff betting at Mybookie after her impressive victory in Saturday’s Beldame (G1) at Belmont Park. She drew off over an overmatched field to win by 2 1/4 lengths under mild urging and earned a 95 Beyer.

She had run third behind Cavorting in both the Ogden Phipps and Personal Ensign in her previous two outings.
