Kentucky Derby (G1) winner I’ll Have Another leads a field of eleven three-year-olds that were entered for Saturday’s $1 million Preakness Stakes (G1) to be run Saturday at Pimlico in Baltimore, Md.
The Derby winner appears likely to play second fiddle in the betting to Bodemeister, who set the early fractions and held on for a game second place finish, 1.5 lengths behind the winner.
Pimlico morning line oddsmaker Frank Carulli installed the Derby runner up as the 8-5 morning line favorite, with I’ll Have Another the second choice at 5-2 betting odds.
Co-third choices are the fourth and fifth place finishers from the Derby, Went the Day Well and Creative Cause.
Six of the eleven runners in the field are coming out of the Derby while there are five newcomers to the second jewel of the Triple Crown.
Among the newcomers are Wood Memorial (G1) third place finisher Teeth of the Dog (15-1), and Arkansas Derby (G1) fourth place finisher Cozzetti (30-1).
Post time for the Preakness Stakes is 6:18 ET and will be televised live on NBC.
