Kentucky Derby Post Positions and Morning Line Odds

There was not much drama at the post position draw for the 144^th running of the Kentucky Derby (G1), with Justify drawing the seven post and was installed as the 3-1 morning line favorite.

A field of 20 will line up with Blended Citizen standing by as an also-eligible in case there is a defection before Friday morning.

The Bob Baffert trained Justify is undefeated in three starts, winning the Santa Anita Derby (G1) in his last outing. The colt will have Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith aboard for the ride.

The UAE Derby (G2) winner Mendelssohn drew post 14 and is the second choice on the official morning line at 5-1. Ryan Moore is in to ride in his second Run for the Roses for trainer Aiden O’Brien, seeking his first Derby victory.

Arkansas Derby (G1) winner Magnum Moon drew post 16 and is the third choice at 6-1. Luis Saez will ride for trainer Todd Pletcher, who has three others in the field.

Audible (8-1) drew post five, Vino Rosso (12-1) drew post 18 and Noble Indy (30-1) drew post 19.

Santa Anita Derby runner up Bolt d’Oro (8-1) drew post 11 and last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) champion Good Magic (12-1) will break from post six.
