Kentucky Derby winner Orb and Preakness Stakes winner Oxbow will face a dozen other runners after betting odds and post positions were announced on Wednesday for the $1 million Belmont Stakes (G1).
The third jewel of the Triple Crown will be contested on Saturday, June 8 at Belmont Park.
Derby winner Orb drew the 5 post and was installed as the 3-1 morning line favorite. Preakness winner Oxbow will break from post 7 and is the 5-1 third choice on the morning line.
Second choice on the morning line is the Todd Pletcher trained Revolutionary, who was third in the Kentucky Derby and bypassed the Preakness. The colt will break from post 9 and is listed at 9-2.
The colt is one of five that will be saddled by trainer Todd Pletcher. The five-time Eclipse Award winning trainer will send out Overanalyze and Palace Malice, who were 11th and 12th respectively in the Kentucky Derby and bypassed the Preakness.
Pletcher will also send out a couple of newcomers to the Triple Crown trail. The Mike Repole owned Midnight Taboo is coming off a runner up finish against first level optional claimers, and the filly Unlimited Budget takes on the boys off a third place finish in the Kentucky Oaks.
Pletcher became the first trainer to win the Belmont Stakes with a filly since 1905 when he saddled Rags to Riches to victory in 2007.
D. Wayne Lukas, who is the all-time wins leader in Triple Crown races with 14 will saddled Will Take Charge in addition to Oxbow.
The Belmont Stakes will be televised on NBC, the two hour telecast getting underway at 5:00 eastern. The 13-race card will feature a $1 Million Guaranteed Pick 6 and a $1 Million Guaranteed All Graded Stakes Pick 4.
