A field of eight will line up on Saturday in the $1.5 million Belmont Stakes (G1), led by Peter Pan (G2) winner We the People, who was installed as the 2-1 morning line favorite.
Trained by Rodolphe Brisset, the son of Constitution bounced back off his seventh-place finish in the Arkansas Derby (G1) to win the Peter Pan on May 14 by 10 ¼ lengths. Flavien Prat retains the mount and will break from the rail.
Mo Donegal, who rallied for fifth in the Kentucky Derby (G1) is the second choice on the morning line at 5-2. He is trained by Todd Pletcher, a three-time winning trainer of the race. Pletcher will give Irad Ortiz Jr. a leg up and will break from the six post.
Rich Strike, who pulled off the huge upset in the Run for the Roses and then skipped the Preakness Stakes (G1) is the third choice on the morning line at 7-2. Sonny Leon has the return call for trainer Eric Reed.
Creative Minster (6-1) made his stakes debut in the Preakness where he checked in third at 10-1. The colt is trained by Ken McPeek who pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Belmont Stakes history with Sarava who paid $142.50 to win in 2002.
