Despite a loss in his final tune-up, Audible remains the third choice in the updated 2019 Pegasus World Cup (G1) betting odds.
Sent off at 1-9 in the $100,000 Harlan’s Holiday at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, the Todd Pletcher trainee caught a sloppy track. Under jockey Javier Castellano, the colt stalked the early pace from the outside, came with a five wide bid and could not get to the winner late in a runner up finish, beaten a half-length.
The winner was the Antony Mitchell trained Antony Mitchell, who returned his backers $53.80.
Audible is currently listed at 11-2 in early 2019 Pegasus World Cup betting odds at USRacing.
Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) champion Accelerate remains the wagering favorite for the Pegasus World Cup at USRacing at 2-1.
The John Sadler trainee won six of his seven starts in 2018, the lone loss by a neck to City Light in the Oaklawn Handicap (G2) in April.
Accelerate Works at Santa Anita
Accelerate put in a work on Saturday at Santa Anita with Juan Leyva aboard through a half-mile in :48.60, his second breeze since his Breeders’ Cup Classic victory at Churchill Downs.
Ever wonder what it feels like to be aboard a champion? @JuanLeyva1984 was kind enough to wear a camera on Saturday morning as he worked Accelerate at @santaanitapark. @VictorEspinoza @sadlerracing @PegasusWorldCup @KostaHronis @BreedersCup pic.twitter.com/fBWsRbKdqO

City of Light took the field gate to wire to win the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) in his last outing and is the current second choice in Pegasus World Cup betting at 5-1.
Gunnevera is pointing toward the Pegasus and is currently listed at 10-1 in early wagering at USRacing. The Antonio Sano trainee ran third in last year’s Pegasus World Cup.
He worked Saturday at Gulfstream Park West. “Everything went very good,” trainer Antonio Sano said. “He went five furlongs in 1:01.2, 1:01.3. It was a very good work.”
The colt ran second in the Breeders’ Cup Classic in his last outing.
