The $1.5 million Preakness Stakes (G1) is on Saturday and Jon Campbell of Oddsshark got together with expert horse racing handicapper Michael Dempsey to talk ponies.
Campbell and Dempsey chat about Justify’s chances of a Triple Crown and how the weather may affect the outcome of the race.
A field of eight will head to the gate in the second jewel of the Triple Crown with Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Justify the short-priced favorite for trainer Bob Baffert.
Standing in his way is three Derby alums including the runner up Good Magic along with four new shooters to the Triple Crown.
Justify is undefeated in four career starts and has shown he can handle a wet track which we likely will see again as Baltimore has been deluged with rain all week. The colt is the 1-2 morning line favorite and currently at USRacing is listed at odds of 2-5.
Good Magic is the solid second choice in the wagering. He is 3-1 on the morning line and USRacing has the Chad Brown trainee listed at 3-1 as well.
Derby sixth place finisher Bravazo (20-1) and eighth place finisher Lone Sailor (15-1) are also back looking to turn the tables.
The newcomers to the Triple Crown are Arkansas Derby (G1) runner up Quip (12-1), Pat Day Mile (G3) fourth place finisher Sporting Chance (30-1), Tesio winner Diamond King (30-1) and Arkansas Derby fifth place finisher Tenfold (20-1).
