“All Others” closed as the even money favorite in Pool 1 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager, the 22nd consecutive year the field has been the favorite in the first round of wagering for the Run for the Roses.
Tiz the Law, despite running third as the beaten favorite in Saturday’s Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) at Churchill Downs closed at 11-1, the second choice among 24 betting options.
The Barclay Tagg trainee suffered his first defeat on Saturday after breaking his maiden in his debut and then winning the Champagne (G1) at Belmont Park on Oct. 5.
Kentucky Jockey Club winner Silver Prospector was part of “All Others” in Pool 1. The Steve Asmussen trainee won by 1 ¾ lengths as my top pick and returned $17.80 for the win.
Dennis’s Moment, the beaten favorite in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) closed at 11-1 for third choice in Pool 1 of the KDFW. The Dale Romans trainee was sent off at 4-5 in the Juvenile but did not fire, checking in a well beaten eighth, beaten 21 lengths.
Juvenile Winner Closes at 41-1
Storm the Court pulled off the upset in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at 46-1. Trained by Peter Eurton, the colt closed at 41-1 in Pool 1 of the KDFW.
Breeders’ Futurity (GI) winner Maxfield closed at 13-1. The Brendan Walsh trainee is undefeated in his two career starts. Also closing at 13-1 was Independence Hall, who won the Nashua (G3) at Aqueduct by a dozen lengths in his last outing on Nov. 3.
The Bob Baffert trained Eight Rings closed at 24-1. The winner of the American Pharoah (G1) at Santa Anita, the colt tossed in a dud in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in a sixth-place finish, beaten 12 lengths.
Structor, who is undefeated in three career starts on turf including winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) is listed at 24-1. The colt is trained by Chad Brown.

The Kentucky Derby Sire Future Wager was also offered over the holiday weekend. “All Other Sires” closed as the favorite at 9-2. Next in line in the wagering were Constitution (5-1, $13.60), Curlin (9-1, $21.80), Tiznow (11-1, $25.60), American Pharoah (12-1, $26) and Uncle Mo (12-1, $26.40).
The next Road to the Kentucky Derby points race is the Springboard Mile at Remington Park on Dec. 15.
