Keeneland Race Course held its first live race in 1936. Keeneland has maintained many of the old-time horse racing charms and was the last race track in North America to broadcast race calls over the public-address system. This was not done until 1997. Keeneland hosts a number of preps for the Kentucky Derby during the spring meet, while the fall meet features numerous preps for the Breeders’ Cup. Because Keeneland has maintained the same appearance for most of its history is was used as the setting for many of the racing scenes in the 2003 film Seabscuit.
Keeneland’s 2021 Fall Race Meet opens Friday, October 8, and continues through Saturday, October 30. No racing will be held on Mondays or Tuesdays.
Keeneland will open at full capacity for the 2021 Fall Meet, to be held Oct. 8-30. Tickets will go on sale to the public beginning at 9 a.m. ET Monday, Aug. 16. Demand is anticipated to be high, and fans are strongly encouraged to visit tickets.keeneland.com in advance for information on available ticket options, pricing and the process to purchase.
