OXO Equine LLC’s Instagrand, dominant winner of the Best Pal Stakes (G2) at Del Mar, is the 4-1 morning line favorite in the Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Future Wager, and his prolific sire, Spendthrift Farm’s Into Mischief, is the 7-2 favorite in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sires Future Wager, as the fields for the second pools of the Breeders’ Cup Future Wagers were announced today with wagering opening on Friday, Aug. 31.
Future wagering on the Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sires Future Wager will open on Friday at 12 p.m. ET and will conclude on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 6:00 p.m. ET. Both pools will consist of 23 unique wagering interests and one “All Others” wager for a total of 24 betting interests.
The Breeders’ Cup Future Wagers enable fans to bet on possible contenders for select Breeders’ World Championships races well in advance of the Nov. 2-3 event. Odds on horses in the pools could be more attractive than those available on the two days of Championship racing.
Instagrand, trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, broke his maiden at Los Alamitos by a widening 10 lengths on June 29, and followed up that performance with a wire-to-wire 10 ¼-length win in the six-furlong Best Pal on Aug.11. Instagrand is followed in the Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Future Wager pool by Speedway Stable LLC’s Roadster (6-1), a gray/roan son of Quality Road, who was an impressive 4 ½-length winner at 6 furlongs at Del Mar on July 29 for trainer Bob Baffert. Michael Dubb, David Simon, Bethlehem Stables LLC and Bruce Irom’s Call Paul and Claiborne Farm’s and Adele Dilschneider’s Mucho, are listed next, both at 8-1. Call Paul, a bay son of Friesen Fire, trained by Jason Servis, is unbeaten in two starts, including his one-length victory in the 6 ½ furlong Saratoga Special (G2) on Aug. 12. Mucho, a bay of 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Blame, trained by Bill Mott, broke his maiden at Saratoga in a six-furlong special weight by 9 ¾ lengths on Aug. 4.
Instagrand Wins Bet Pal
Jerry Hollendorfer and West Point Thoroughbreds’ Gunmetal Gray is next at 10-1. Also trained by Hollendorfer, Gunmetal Gray is a gray/roan son of Exchange Rate, who broke his maiden by 6 ¾ lengths last time out at six furlongs at Del Mar on Aug. 22.
In the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sires Future Wager the morning line favorite, Into Mischief, is the sire of both Instagrand and Starlight Racing’s Sombeyay, who won the Sanford Stakes (G2) at Saratoga, and OXO Equine’s Rowayton, who broke his maiden last month at Del Mar. (Somebeyay and Rowayton are both listed at 20-1 in the Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Future Wager).
The “All Others” mutuel field is listed next at 4-1 in the Juvenile Sires Future Wager and is followed by Lane’s End stallion Quality Road, the sire of Roadster, at 5-1. Gainesway Farm’s Tapit (8-1) has sired three runners in the Juvenile Future Wager: John Oxley’s Dream Maker, Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC and Stronestreet Stables LLC’s Nitrous and Winchell Thoroughbreds’ Tight Ten. Lane’s End Farm’s Union Rags, sire of recent maiden winner Tale of the Union for Bob Baffert, is listed next at 10-1.
All Breeders’ Cup Future Wagers carry a $2 minimum bet and a win wager only.
Betting on all Breeders’ Cup Future Wagers will be offered at racetracks, casinos, simulcast centers, off-track betting sites and via Twinspires.com and other advanced deposit wagering (“ADW”) sites.
Pools for the third and final Breeders’ Cup Future Wager opening on Oct. 5 on the Breeders’ Cup Classic and the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf are tentatively set for a total of 15 unique wagering interests and one All Others wager.
There are no scratches or refunds. Should Breeders’ Cup officials determine during the three-day run of the set pool that a wagering interest has suffered an injury or other circumstance that would prevent that horse from competing in the Breeders’ Cup, wagering on that interest will be immediately suspended.
The third and final Future Wager pools, scheduled to open on Oct. 5 and close on Oct. 7, will consist of the Breeders’ Cup Classic Future Wager #2 and the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1).
