We have just seen the finish of the Cheltenham Festival, which again proved to be a memorable sporting event, with racing fans watching worldwide, despite spectators being unable to attend at the track. It was a very popular sports betting event again, with BetRivers set to be the next offering sports betting across the US in Michigan, as many fans were looking to get involved on the event but were unable to do so. Despite this, it was still a well followed event, with endless eye-catching performances. But which stood out from the rest across the week?

As mentioned, it was a very memorable week and much of this was down to Rachael Blackmore who picked up the top jockey’s crown and again and again was delivering. She was the dominating force and her and Honeysuckle have to go down as the real performance of the week, with the seven-year-old landing the Champion hurdle and a second consecutive victory at the festival.

It was a victory of real class, with the horse now much improved and extending her unbeaten record to 11 wins from 11, as the clear best two miler in the sport at present.

Honeysuckle was heading into the race, following a remarkable 10 length victory in the Irish Champion hurdle at Leopardstown. It was a clear life-time best, with the horse looking much improved and it is why she again came under much support coming into the festival race. Honeysuckle continued to shorten on the day, with endless support coming in for the mare.

This proved to be money well placed, as she duly landed the short odds. Honeysuckle travelled ominously well throughout the race, jumping well. She then jumped to the lead two out and drew effortlessly clear and was pushed up the run-in to win very impressively by six and a half lengths from Sharjah in second, who again finished second in the race for a second consecutive year, with defending champion Epatante back in third.

What a special horse she is, and she further extended her unbeaten record. Honeysuckle is now one of the leading lights of the sport and is going to take the world of beating moving forward. Can she now go on and defend her crown next season?
