The 2020 Kentucky Derby is getting closer, and this year we are expecting a big comeback for this grand horse racing show. Last year, the Derby did not end well due to its winner’s controversial disqualification. The real Derby winner was disqualified due to a “bumping at the pole” incident.

This year, we are expecting a fresh batch of all three-year-old thoroughbred horses that will compete in the Run For The Roses. The Kentucky Derby will take place on May 2, 2020, at Churchill Down, Kentucky. It will feature around 20 racehorses that will saddle up on a dirt track with over $1 million purse prize at stake.

The Kentucky Derby might sound like an easy racing show; however, the road to getting a sure spot to compete for this event is challenging. There are several requirements that racehorse must achieve, and one of these is earning a minimum of 20-Derby qualifying points. These points might be gained by partaking in Derby-prep races before the main event kicks-in.

Earlier this year, Kentucky Derby wagers started to fill in many sports news platforms naming the horses that generate strong betting odds for the upcoming horse racing competition. Last week, another prep-race took place, and a new racehorse takes the lead in the recent ranking for the Derby.

Ete Indien is now on the leaderboard and has the strongest betting odds as of today. Let’s meet him and see if he can make history for the upcoming Kentucky Derby.

Ete Indien’s Profile

Ete Indien is a three-year-old colt that gets foaled on March 9, 2017. Robert B. Tillyer and Eric Buckley breed him. His trainer is Patrick L. Biancone, and Florent Geroux is his dedicated jockey. His current earnings since the start of his racing career are around $333, 156. This figure is already big for a new three-year-old Kentucky Derby entry.

Moreover, Ete Indien has already tallied a total of five racing games. Out of the five racing competitions he took part in,  three of these were in the first place. He also got one in the second place and has never placed third.

Earlier this year, Ete Indien did not bid to compete for the upcoming Kentucky Derby. However, his trainer sent him to take part in prep-races, and he won convincingly. He got more than 50-Derby qualifying points and took over the poll for the current ranking of the Derby entrants today.

Ete Indien’s Horse Racing Career

Ete Indien started his horse racing career and competed first in Maiden Special Weight. This event took place at Gulfstream Park last September 13, 2019, where he got first place. After that, he competed in his first stakes races at Keeneland last October 6, 2019. He only ended up in the eight places during the Grade 3 Dixiana Bourbon Stakes.

Although he did not finish well at Keeneland, Ete Indien took another chance of competing in an Allowance Optional Claiming, which takes place at Gulfstream Park. He was successful this time, which helped his breeder to bid and own him.

Last February 1, 2020, Ete Indien competed in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes that happened at Gulfstream Park. He has shown impressive performance and got him to the second place. Winning the Holy Bull Stakes is a big achievement for Ete Indien as he earned a Derby qualifying point.

On February 29, 2020, Ete Indien decided to run again at Gulfstream Park. He competed in another Derby prep race, which is the Grade 2 Fasig-Tipton Fountain Of Youth Stakes. This racehorse has shown an impressive speed during the competition, which allows him to clinch the winning title. This victory paved the way for him to take the leaderboard in today’s Kentucky Derby odds ranking.

Ete Indien Strength

Looking back into his previous runs, Ete Indien can show-off a varying running style. Although he is not one of the racehorses that can start string during the start of the racing game, his ability to gain momentum is excellent. Also, he can develop a running speed when the race is nearing to an end. It is a technique that he did by the time he competed at the Fountain of Youth Stakes.

Moreover, Ete Indien has first-class and multi-graded stakes winning jockey. Florent Geroux has established an impressive horse racing record because of his excellent connections to the racehorses he operates.

Takeaway

The Kentucky Derby is one of the most awaited horse racing events in the United States. It serves as the first leg of the U.S. Triple Crown Series, and every year punters are scouting which racehorse deserves their wager.

Hence, as we move closer to this event, Ete Indien is the newest entry to the Kentucky Derby ranking who tops the current poll. Does this racehorse come in the best form to win the Run For The Roses? Let’s all wait and see.
