The Simon Callaghan trained Bellafina is headed to Churchill Downs for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) as the likely favorite according to the latest betting odds released by USRacing.
The filly has won three of her four career starts, winning the Chandelier (G1) at Santa Anita in her last outing on Sept. 29. The filly is currently listed at 5-2 in early Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies betting odds at USRacing.
Favorites have performed well in the Juvenile Fillies winning 18 of the 34 editions of this race. However, we have seen back to back upsets, Caledonia Road winning last year at Del Mar paying $36.60 and Champagne Room pulled off the upset in 2015 returning $69.20.
Serengeti Empress is the second choice in early Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Odds at USRacing at 4-1. Trained by Tom Amoss, the filly rolled to a 19 ½ length win in the Pocahontas (G2) at Churchill Downs in her ls outing.
Alcibiades Winner Taking Action
Restless Rider is coming off a sharp win in the Alcibiades (G1) at Keeneland. Recent Juvenile Fillies winners that prepped in the Alcibiades include Take Charge Brandi (2014), She Be Wild (2009) and Cash Run in 1999.
The Ken McPeek trained Restless Rider has won three of her four career starts and won the Debutante over the Churchill Downs main track in June. The filly is the third choice in early Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies betting odds at USRacing at 5-1.
Replay of 2018 Alcibiades
Sippican Harbor beat Restless Rider in the Spinaway which was her stakes debut at Saratoga going seven furlongs on Sept. 1. That effort was certainly flattered with Restless Rider coming back to win the Alcibiades. She is trained by Gary Contessa who has been on a nice roll in recent months in New York. The filly is listed at 7-1 in at USRacing.
One talented filly missing off the USRacing list is Jaywalk, winner of the Frizette (G1) at Belmont Park on Oct. 7. She is the fourth choice on the Daily Racing Form odds at 5-1.
Trained by Jason Servis, Jaywalk has won her last three races by a combined 14 ¾ lengths. Last year’s winner Caledonia Road prepped in the Frizette
