As with any sport, the closer the time approaches for the match, the more anticipation builds. However, the Pacific Stakes calls for more anticipation than most following the races of the Belmont Stakes and Kentucky Derby. Being smack bang in the middle of the year doesn’t help either, as horses have been training to the bone and jockeys are worn.
But 2019 has been slightly different regarding the tension surrounding the Pacific Stakes races and it might have something to do with sports books or betting at major sites like www.novicasino.com. Hefty wagers have been placed and the odds are in, the question is who the odds are against and who are they for?
The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club has been a part of the full bodied anticipation coursing through the veins of punters as the Pacific Stakes approaches in August. For the first time in 80 years, the newly adjusted program will feature 5 graded stakes races. This has been a welcome addition as it adds a new level of unpredicted excitement and draws in more spectators from around the world.
As far as wagers staked, the Grade 1 TVG Pacific Classic, awards the thoroughbred winner the following prizes:
- Grade 1 – $1 000 000
- Grade 2 – $300 000
- Grade 3 — $100 000
The interesting turn of events has recently been making more headlines and one can only assume it has to do with the races of the event fast approaching and sportsbooks predicting the odds.
When the DMTC president was asked his opinion regarding the hype around the events, he responded saying that he has noted it across the country and racing fans are responding positively to the big events as there is something special about these events and the media does create a hype around these races.
He went on to say that the plan was to create a day that Del Mar has never seen before, so this is truly and uniquely inspiring, lifting the spirits of fans and jockeys alike and adding fuel to the competitive fire between horses and man. With tickets on sale and already a number of online purchases completed, Del Mar believes that the day is one to enter the history books and the new program will draw in punters from around the world, making it one of the biggest horse racing events for next year’s races in 2020.
The summer season for Del Mar runs its course from July to September and during these months there are a number of races to watch. For this reason, there has been added media publicity to set the Pacific Stakes apart from other races held at the track.
The program is for 3 year old fillies and run at 9 furlongs on a grass track. The event brings in thoroughbreds from around the world as well as supporters and celebrities. With Pacific Stakes only two months away, we have to wonder if the event will live up to its expected outcome and indeed be the next big race of 2020.
