Kentucky Derby Future Wagering on Trainers Available

We are still five months away from the first Saturday of May, but it is not to early to start thinking Kentucky Derby, and there are plenty of wagers available.

Pool 1 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager closed on Nov. 29 with Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) champion Nyquist the 9-1 betting favorite among the 23 separate betting interests offered by Churchill Downs. “All others” closed as the favorite at 3-5.

Mybookie.ag is offering future wagering on the Kentucky Derby and also is offering a chance to wager on the winning trainer.

Doug O’Neill trains Nyquist and is being offered at +900. The colt is perfect in five starts including four graded stakes races.

The betting favorite right now among the trainers at Mybookie.ag is Keith Desormeaux, who has Exaggerator is in his barn. The colt was fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and came back to win the Delta Downs Jackpot (G3) in his most recent outing on Nov. 21 by a neck over Sunny Ridge.

Exaggerator closed at 25-1 in Pool 1 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager and is currently listed at +3000 at Mybookie.ag.

Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert is listed at +4000 at Mybookie.ag. Baffert had three horses among the 23 separate betting interests in Pool 1 of the KDFW.

Defrong was a good looking maiden winner in his second career start and closed at 40-1 in Pool 1 of the KDFW. Mor Spirit closed at 31-1 and also broke his maiden in his second career start.

Baffert’s Toews on Ice is a three-time stakes winner, taking the Bob Hope Stakes at Del Mar on Nov.14 in his last start. He closed at 49-1 in Pool 1.

Kiaran McLaughlin is listed at +1800 at Mybookie.ag and has a couple of talented juveniles in Futurity (G2) winner Annual Report (64-1 in Pool 1) and Nashua winner Mohaymen (11-1 in Pool 1).

Mark Casse is listed at +3300 and has a couple of promising runners. Airoforce (18-1 in Pool 1) was beaten just a neck in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) and then came back to win the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G1) in his last outing.

Conquest Big E was in the mix early in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile before weakening to finish eighth. He closed at 39-1 in Pool 1.
