Churchill Downs will offer 2014 Kentucky Derby Future betting, with the first of four Pools coming up from Nov. 26-30.
There are 23 separate betting interests with the 24th option “All others” which is listed at 2-5 on the morning line released by track handicapper Mike Battaglia.
The betting pool will open on Wednesday and will close on Saturday, Nov. 30 prior to post time of either the $400,000 Remsen (G2) at Aqueduct or Churchill Downs’ $150,000 Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) – whichever race comes first.
The betting favorite among the 23 individual horses is the Shug McGaughey trained Honor Code, who was beaten a neck in the Champagne (G1) at Belmont Park in his last outing. The colt is listed at 15-1 odds.
Honor Code will race on Saturday as the likely favorite in the Remsen at Aqueduct.
New Year’s Day, the winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) at Santa Anita Park is listed at 20-1. Sharing second choice on the morning line is Almost Famous. The Patrick Byrne trainee has won two of his three starts, last out a victory against first level optional claimers at Churchill Downs on Nov 9.

The $2 million guaranteed Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) will be run for the 140th consecutive year at Churchill Downs on Saturday, May 3. The $1 million Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1), America’s premier race for 3-year-old fillies, will be run in its traditional calendar location on Friday, May 2 – the eve of the “Run for the Roses.”
