NBC Sports and the New York Racing Association are teaming up to bring racing from Saratoga into your living room with seven episodes of “Summer at Saratoga” starting on July 27.
This will be the third season the popular horse racing show will be broadcast on NBC and NBC Sports Network and will include all of the major stakes at the Spa this summer including the $1 million Travers (G1) on Aug. 24.
The three Triple Crown winners, Orb, Oxbow and Palace Malice are expected for the Travers.
The first telecast is coming up on Saturday, July 27 which will feature the $600,000 Diana (G1) for fillies and mares three-year-olds and upward going nine furlongs on the grass and the $600,000 Jim Dandy (G2) for three-year-olds.
The Jim Dandy is expected to attract Belmont Stakes winner Palace Malice and Peter Pan (G2) winner Freedom Child.
The 2012 Horse of the Year Wise Dan will be in action at Saratoga this summer. His next likely start will come in the $500,000 Fourstardave (G2) on turf on Aug. 10, but his trainer Charles LoPresti has not ruled out a start on dirt in the $750,000 Whitney Handicap (G1) on Aug. 3.
