Truth be told, betting on NBA Futures doesn’t yield as big a payout as other sports or leagues are able to provide. However, it does pay to bet on a decent team early at the start of the season. For example, when the Toronto Raptors won the championship in 2019, they started the season off with +1850 odds. Anyone who bet on the Raptors at the start of the season was rewarded substantially.
Aside from betting on the overall champion, bettors can also offer up bets on conference champions and division winners. Aside from that, there are bets up for grabs for the individual player awards including Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year.
2022 NBA Finals Odds to Win
Right now, the Brooklyn Nets are positioned as the favorite team to win the title as per Vegas Insider. They are currently +260 followed by the Golden State Warriors at +550. The Nets’ odds were increased dramatically following news that Kyrie Irving would be cleared to play in New York despite not getting himself vaccinated. The Warriors started the season off strong but were plagued by a number of injuries. Most recently, Stephen Curry has been sidelined with an injury and is likely not to see any action until the start of the playoffs.
The defending champion Milwaukee Bucks are also currently sitting in third place with +700 odds. Their best player Giannis Antetokounmpo is also one of the frontrunners for league MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. Rounding out the top five are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Utah Jazz which are set at +1000 odds each. At the start of the season, the Lakers were deemed as one of the favorites to win the title considering their stacked lineup of Lebron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook. However, the team’s struggles have been well-documented all season and their chances to win it all have dipped significantly over the past few months.
Uncertain Future
There are only a few games left in the regular season as various teams are still jockeying for prime playoff position. There is also stiff competition for the individual awards that are up for grabs with Joel Embiid and Nikolas Jokic trading blows with one big game after another. It will be interesting to see how the regular season is going to play out and which teams will have momentum on their side going into the playoffs.
