Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert looks locked and loaded for an attempt for an all-time record seventh win in the Run for the Roses, with five of his runners taking action in Pool 2 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager.
While All Other Three-Year-Olds closed as the 9-5 betting favorite in Pool 2 which ended Sunday, Baffert’s Life Is Good closed as the shortest price among the 23 individual Derby contenders at 7-1.
The son of Into Mischief broke his maiden by 9 ½ lengths at Del Mar in his debut and then came back to win the Sham (G3) at Santa Anita on Jan. 2 to pick up his first Derby points.
Baffert’s other runners in Pool 2 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager are the unraced $400,000 Keeneland purchase Bezos (26-1), Jan. 15 debut winner Concert Tour (16-1), the Sham runner-up Medina Spirit (24-1), and the Los Alamitos Futurity (G2) winner Spielberg (47-1).

Spielberg is expected to be entered in Saturday’s Robert B. Lewis (G3) on Saturday which offers up 10-4-2-1 Derby points.
The trainer has won three of the last six editions of the Kentucky Derby including last year with Authentic.
Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner Essential Quality closed at 8-1 in Pool 2, second choice among the 23 separate betting interests. The colt is trained by Brad Cox.
Cox sent out Caddo River to win Friday’s Smarty Jones at Oaklawn Park, drawing away to win by 10 ¼ lengths. Next up likely is the Rebel (G2) at Oaklawn Park on March 13. The colt closed at 13-1 in Pool 2 wagering on Sunday.
