Royal Ascot finally got given the green light in June and it turned out to be a memorable five days, despite the lack of spectators in attendance. There were an endless number of eye-catching performances and horses to follow moving forward. So here we cover three of the top performances to take from the 2020 edition of Royal Ascot.
Stradivarius
The performance of Stradivarius was breath-taking and it simply has to be included in any list of horses to take from the meeting. It meant he landed the Ascot Gold Cup for a third year in succession and further stamped his dominance in the staying division. The 10 length victory was a clear career best and also meant a 15th victory under rules from just 22 starts. It now set’s up for an exciting rest of the season for the John Gosden trained six year old. It has also led to support for the horse using offers such as the Jackpotjoy code. This is in order to boost the balance ahead of the horses expected next run in the Arc later in the season.

Battaash
Another horse that went in with huge expectations of winning and duly obliging. This was the Charlie Hills sprinter Battaash. He went in without a victory at Ascot, with a near miss in the same race the previous season. However, going into the race fresh saw him produce a near life-time best as he was a class apart from the rest of the field in the King’s stand. Big things will be expected of the horse moving forward and if bringing his best then he is going to take the world of beating. Battaash has also now won 11 of his 21 starts under rules.

Lord North
The final horse to make the select list and another from the Gosden yard is Lord North. The four year old has been one of the fastest improving horses in training and this now culminated with this stunning 3 ¾ length victory in the Prince of Wales’s stakes at the Royal meeting. It was also a very impressive performance, as he quickened up well and cleared away in the final furlong to win comfortably. Lord North is clearly one to keep on side, as he continues to improve with each start.
