The Fausto Gutierrez trained Letruska is the solid early favorite in 2021 Breeders’ Cup Distaff betting in the latest odds released by BetUS.
The mare is currently listed at 17-10 in early Distaff betting at BetUS. The mare has won six of her seven starts this year and will come into the championship race riding a five-race winning streak. Her last loss was by a head in the Azeri (G2) at Oaklawn Park back in March.
Her final tune up for the Distaff came in the Spinster (G1) at Keeneland on Oct. 10 where she took the field gate to wire and won by 1 ¾ lengths over Dunbar Road with Bonny South another 2 ¼ lengths back in third.
The Todd Pletcher trained Malathaat is the current second choice in early Breeders’ Cup Distaff wagering at BetUS at 4-1. She has won three of her four starts this year, her most recent start a victory in the Alabama (G1) at Saratoga on Aug. 21. She won the Kentucky Oaks (G1) at Churchill Downs back in May.
Royal Flag ran big winning the Beldame Invitational (G2) at Belmont Park in her last start. The Pletcher trainee is currently at 12-1.
Private Mission, winner of the Zenyatta (G1) at Santa Anta on Oct. 3 is the third choice in the Distaff at 7-1. He trainer Bob Baffert has been cleared to start runners in this year’s Breeders’ Cup but will be under extra scrutiny.

Distaff Favorite Letruska Wins Spinster
Baffert has had a number of high profile drug overages in the past couple of years, none bigger than Medina Spirit, winner of the Kentucky Derby (G1).
In a statement released by the Breeders’ Cup, Baffert’s horses have “increased randomized out-of-competition testing for all prohibited and restricted substances, additional tests administered the week of the World Championships, increased veterinarian and security checks, and in-person 24-hour security surveillance ahead of the horse or horses’ respective events. Mr. Baffert has agreed to abide by each of these additional measures.”
Trainer Brad Cox, who won the Distaff in 2018 and last year with Monomoy Girl will send out a pair of contenders this year in Shesharesthedevil and Bonny South.
Shesharesthedevil has won four of her five starts this year and is currently at odds of 15-1 in Distaff betting at BetUS. She won the Locust Grove (G3) at Churchill Downs in her last start on Sept. 18.
Her stablemate Bonny South is listed at 8-1. She was third in the Spinster in her last start. She has now lost four in a row since winning the Doubledogdare (G3) at Keeneland back in April.
Clairiere won the Cotillion (G1) at Parx Racing in her last outing for trainer Steve Asmussen. She is currently at 17-2 in early Distaff betting at BetUS. The win was her first since taking the Rachel Alexandra (G2) at Fair Grounds back in February.
