Owned in part by Jim Rome’s Jungle Racing, Shared Belief has vaulted into the top spot in Breeders’ Cup Classic future betting after his score in Sunday’s Grade 1, $1 million Pacific Classic.
The colt remained undefeated beating a field of nine in the signature race of the summer Del Mar meeting, becoming just the fifth three-year-old to win the race in 24 editions.
Under Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith, who got off eight-time Grade 1 winner and defending champion Game On Dude, Shared Belief overcame his outside post and brushing the side of the gate at the break.
The colt was seven lengths back, split rivals on the far turn and showed a good burst of speed to pull away from Toast of New York to win by 2 ¾ lengths, paying $4.40 to win.
There were a couple of anxious moments after the race as there was stewards inquiry after the colt drifted in slightly and jockey Victor Espinoza stood up briefly. The colt earned a 115 Beyer Speed Figure.
Could not be more proud of #SharedBelief! Saw him in the barn after his big win. He came out of it great! Replay: https://t.co/YKgaPLaLdn

Toast of New York held on for second, the $2 exacta paying $27.40 with 37-1 longshot Imperative running third, the $2 trifecta returning $462.20.
Pacesetter Game On Dude checked in fourth after having to duel through sharp early fractions with Mystery Train.
Shared Belief is now perfect in six career starts and moved a step close to getting into the Eclipse picture for top three-year-old. He would likely need to turn the tables on California Chrome in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. California Chrome has three Grade 1 wins this year, the Santa Anita Derby, Kentucky Derby and Preakness.
In future odds released Monday afternoon at Sportsbook.ag it appears the Clones have spoken as Shared Belief is now down to the 2-1 choice in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. California Chrome is second choice at 3-1, while Palace Malice is listed at 4-1.
V.E. Day, who pulled off the upset in the Grade 1, $1.25 million Travers at Saratoga on Saturday listed at 65-1. The colt earned a 102 Beyer Speed Figure in his win.
