Fair Grounds Race 10 The Louisiana Derby G2 Post time 4:55 CT
A field of 14 will line up in Sunday’s $1 million Louisiana Derby (G12) at Fair Grounds, with the winner guaranteed starting spot in the field for the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby on the first Saturday of May.Shared Property is making his third start of the year and first with blinkers after racing wide much of the trip last out in the Risen Star (G2). The colt was a game third two back in the LeComte (G3) off a 3 ½ month layoff. The colt’s lone stakes win came on polytrack last fall in the Arlington Washington Futurity (G3) at Arlington Park. The colt sports a couple of quick works and should get a good tracking trip sitting just off the pace. Worth a good look if we see most of the 10/1 morning line odds.
Rousing Sermon ships in from the west coast for the Jerry Hollendorfer barn. The colt capped off his juvenile campaign by nearly winning the CashCall Futurity (G1), coming up a neck short. He has traffic troubles in the Robert B. Lewis (G2) in his 2012 debut, and then last out was outrun early and came up short late after a wide trip to finish fifth in the San Felipe (G2). The colt looks primed for a top effort here in his third start of his current form cycle.
