Friday’s 138th running of the $1 million Kentucky Oaks (G1) drew an overflowing field of 15 three-year-old fillies that will go 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs.
There will be 14 in the starting gate, with the Tim Hills trained Oaks Lily sitting on the also-eligible list and only able to get into the race if there is a late scratch by Friday morning.
The race will be televised live during a one hour telecast on the NBC Sports Network that gets underway at 5:00 ET.
Leading the field is the Tony Dutrow trained Grace Hall, who comes into the race off an impressive score in the Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2) in her last outing.
The filly, who is the 5-2 morning line favorite, has won four of her six career starts including the Spinaway (G1) last September at Saratoga in her first start against winners.
Her only losses came in runner up finishes in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) last fall and the Davona Dale (G2) this spring in her first start off a 3 ½ month layoff.
The co-second choices in the field are Honeybee (G2) winner On Fire Baby and Comely (G3) winner Broadway Alibi, both at 4-1 on the morning line.
Post time for the Kentucky Oaks is 5:45 ET and anchors an outstanding 12-race card at Churchill Downs on Friday that features six stakes races.
