Future wagering odds for the 2012 Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) are now available, with the U.S. based Point of Entry the early betting choice at current odds of 3-1.
Future wagering on the Breeders’ Cup is now available at Bovada.lv.
The Shug McGaughey trained Point of Entry will be coming into the Turf riding a five race win streak, last out taking the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (G1) at Belmont Park going 1 ½ miles over yielding turf.
Six of the last seven winners of the Turf were European based runners, the lone exception when English Channel won the race in 2007 for trainer Todd Pletcher.
Last year’s winner was the Aiden O’Brien trained St. Nicholas Abbey, returning $15.80 for a $2 wager, and the five-year-old will be back to defend his title, and is currently listed at 7-2 betting odds.
He will be looking to rebound off an 11th place finish in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1) in his last outing on Oct. 7.
Others that are exiting the Arc and may make the trip to the U.S. for the Turf include the winner Solemia and the 8th place finisher Sea Moon, who is listed at 7-1 by Bovada.
In addition to St. Nicholas Abbey, O’Brien is considering running Treasure Beach and Imperial Monarch in the Turf.
Japan will be represented by Trailblazer, who was second in the Arroyo Seco Mile (G2) at Santa Anita on Oct. 6 in his U.S. debut.
Trained by Yasutoshi Ikee, the five-year-old son of Zenno Rob Roy is listed at odds of 10/1.
