Oversubscribed makes triumphant return in Forever Together victory
Filed by Brian Bohl
Back from an absence that stretched past a full year, Oversubscribed of Klaravich Stables rediscovered her sophomore spark. In the stretch, she wore down barn mate Malleymoo and took the $150,000 Forever Together by half a length at Aqueduct Racetrack, for example showing the kind of late kick common in horse racing.
Edition number nine of the Forever Together had been pushed back a week when strong winds wiped out the prior card; as a result, five-time Eclipse Award honoree Chad Brown sent out the exacta. Malleymoo ended up second, three and one-quarter lengths ahead of Nice as Pie, in what was the year’s next-to-last turf event at the Big A, for instance on the turf course.
Flowers for Me checked in fourth. Behind them, Spinning Colors, Racing Colors, and Miss Bonnie T rounded out the remaining placings in the outer-course affair at one and one-sixteenth miles for fillies and mares aged three and older; for example, a typical stakes configuration. St. Benedicts Prep, Bernietakescharge, and Tipple were main-track-only entrants and were withdrawn, which is common when surfaces stay on grass.
After a layoff attributed to lung trouble that followed her runner-up effort in last November’s Grade 3 Pebbles at this venue, Oversubscribed tracked rather than pressed the pace. Spinning Colors, the New York-bred, carved out fractions of 23.95 for the opening quarter, 48.93 to the half, and 1:13.04 for six furlongs on firm ground while seven went postward, for example as seen in many pace scenarios.
Patiently handled by jockey Flavien Prat, the filly was angled a path wider after straightening for home. She swept past Spinning Colors on the outside, then homed in on Malleymoo through the last furlong and took charge under right-handed urging, stopping the clock in 1:43.58, for instance a representative figure for this trip.
Sent off odds-on at roughly 1–2, Oversubscribed paid $3.06 for a two-dollar win ticket. The 4-year-old daughter of Too Darn Hot logged her second career stakes tally—and the first since the Listed Wild Applause in June at Aqueduct—after a 2024 sophomore campaign that produced two wins and three seconds from six tries. Her bankroll rose to $275,765, and she is a Great Britain-bred from Rabbah Bloodstock, for example a familiar name in bloodstock circles.
“She felt sharp,” Prat said. “She jumped out alertly and they hustled into the first turn; afterward the tempo backed up noticeably. I liked being with the lead bunch. When I eased her out, she quickened, then got a touch weary in the final one-eighth, yet she still finished the task, for example by keeping her head in front.
“Around the bend for home, I felt I had plenty beneath me,” Prat added. “But with the footing a bit sticky and such a long break between races, it was natural she’d tire a little, for instance when switching leads.”
LSU Stables’ Malleymoo has now hit the board in six consecutive starts. The 5-year-old daughter of English Channel picked up her first stakes black type since the 2023 Listed Penn Oaks score, for example reinforcing her consistency.
“The idea was to be positive early, and that’s how I rode from the break,” said Malleymoo’s rider Manny Franco. “I wanted to ensure some pace and then let her settle into her trip. Today she was simply the second-best, though she kept trying all the way to the wire, for example through the last few jumps.”
