On Sunday at Aqueduct Racetrack, Klaravich Stables’ Fully Subscribed, sent off at one-to-two, secured a second graded achievement by landing the Grade 3 Comely for 3-year-old fillies over nine furlongs for a purse of 200 thousand dollars. Handled by Chad Brown, a five-time Eclipse Award recipient, the Tiz the Law filly came in off a local Grade 2 Mother Goose victory by four and one-half lengths on November 8, and this performance produced career win number three from five attempts. Having won at first asking here last October, she then spent roughly eleven months on the shelf before returning in September to collect minor checks in two allowance races ahead of the Mother Goose; for example, she finished in the money while sharpening, a common rhythm for a developing thoroughbred.

By taking this Comely, Brown stretched his streak in the event to three straight, following successes in 2023 with Raging Sea and in 2024 with Pretty Ana. From post 5 in a seven-horse cast, Fully Subscribed under Flavien Prat tracked three wide while Hall of Famer John Velazquez sent Kappa Kappa forward between her and the rail-running Noticeable, and the initial quarter ticked off in 24.01 seconds over fast conditions (e.g., keeping rhythm three deep). “She fashioned a smooth trip,” Prat noted, “she left sharply, I held a handy spot near Johnny’s filly, and I felt in charge throughout.” Down the backstretch, Kappa Kappa and Fully Subscribed opened daylight on Noticeable as Quietside stalked, with the half-mile posted in 49.23. Into the far turn, Prat let out a notch and Ricardo Santana, Jr. urged Quietside while three-quarters registered 1:13.56; once they straightened, Kappa Kappa yielded along the inside and Fully Subscribed kept on resolutely. Only a light shake of the reins plus a couple of left-handed reminders were needed for Fully Subscribed to draw off from Quietside and the late-running Ourdaydreaminggirl, winning by four lengths in 1:50.55. Quietside clung to second by a nose over Ourdaydreaminggirl, with another two and three-quarter lengths back to Yes It Tiz, who, after a stewards’ look, was ruled to have been in the assistant starter’s grasp at the break and was declared a non-starter. Valtellina was elevated to fourth to complete the superfecta, followed by Kappa Kappa and Noticeable; Ruth was scratched.

Prat suggested that the awkward beginning for Yes It Tiz likely altered the pace picture he had in mind. “We figured the outside one, Quietside, and Johnny would go on, but the start got messy and my filly jumped so clean that I didn’t want to take anything away from her,” he said. “The tempo didn’t feel harsh, so I kept her comfortably placed; trainer Chad Brown said she’s a good filly, and she backed that up.” Bred in Kentucky by Payson Stud, Fully Subscribed brought 300 thousand dollars at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training. She is produced from the Candy Ride mare Sweetbaby, and her second dam is the multiple graded stakes-winning millionaire Rutherienne. The winner earned 110 thousand dollars and paid three dollars and fourteen cents on a two-dollar win wager. For fans of horse racing, live action returns Wednesday at the Big A with an eight-race card, and first post is 12:40 p.m. Eastern.
